What is We Live in an Ocean of Air?

We Live in an Ocean of Air is a multi-sensory installation, placing you and up to five others inside a relaxing and meditative virtual reality environment. The installation is designed to be fully immersive, including visuals, sound and scent. It utilises multiple technologies to further your experience, including sensors to monitor your heart rate and breath.

Is the experience okay for children? Why do you say the minimum age limit is 10?

Because of the sizes of the equipment you will be required to wear, we recommend that all guests be a minimum of 48 inches (1.2m) tall, and need to be at least 10 years of age or older to visit. Visitors will need to be able to wear a backpack which weighs 5kg. Adult supervision for under 18’s is required at all times.

Can I change my booking or get a refund?

Exchanges are subject to availability, require at least 48 hours notice and will incur an exchange booking fee of £5. You may transfer your ticket to another time on the same date, or to another individual, free of charge. Refunds are not available.

I have questions about accessibility?

The venue is wheelchair accessible. Please include information about your requirements as part of your booking, or contact us at ooa@marshmallowlaserfeast.com if you have access or mobility requirements and would like to discuss how we can support you.

Can I participate if I’m pregnant?

As this experience involves elements of sensory deprivation, participation is not recommended if you are pregnant or medically unfit. If you do participate then you do so at your own risk.

I have a carer, will they be able to accompany me?

If you wish to be accompanied by a carer or companion, please get in touch with us at ooa@marshmallowlaserfeast.com before you book a ticket to arrange a free carer ticket.

I have allergies, will I be affected by the scents you use in the experience?

This experience includes scent, designed to enhance your experience of the installation. These scents have been certified as in compliance with the standards of the International Fragrance Association, for the way they are used in this experience. Certification and safety data sheets are kept on site and available on request. If you are particularly concerned about the impact of the ingredients used on your allergies, please get in touch for this information.

Why do I need to wear a heart rate monitor?

The heart rate monitor is designed to enhance your experience, and is integral to the installation content. If you have any questions about this, please speak to a member of staff on arrival. We will be capturing heart rate data from the sensor, but this will be totally anonymised and not traceable to any individual or time stamp. If you have questions about this please refer to our Privacy Policy.

I have a pacemaker, is it safe for me to participate?

We are not using any technology which should interfere with pacemakers.

How many people can participate at a time?

OOA is a multi user experience. Up to six people can participate in the experience at one time. If six people wish to participate together, they must book for the same time, and arrive at the same time, otherwise we cannot guarantee participation in the same group.

How long is the experience?

Please expect to be with us for 20-30 minutes, with around ten minutes spent in the virtual reality environment. You will be able to visit the observation deck after the experience to take photos. At busy times please expect there to be a short queue before you begin

How early should I arrive for my visit?

You should arrive five minutes before the time on your ticket. This includes all group members. Please visit the cloakroom to drop off your belongings prior to checking in for the experience.

What happens if I arrive late?

We cannot guarantee entry if you arrive after your scheduled time.

Are there any group discounts/ corporate packages bookings available?

Group bookings, and corporate packages are available. Please contact us at ooa@marshmallowlaserfeast.com for more information.

Can I take photos?

There is a viewing deck in the space, from which you will be able to take photos following your experience.

Can I buy tickets in person?

Tickets are available online in advance for all experience slots. Tickets will be available on the day subject to availability - we'd recommend you purchase your tickets in advance wherever possible.

I can’t see or print my confirmation email

Please rest assured that our team will be able to look up your booking when you arrive.

Can I wear my glasses?

The Headset inserts we use will allow you to change the spacing between the lenses, and the distance between the lenses and your face, so you will be able to wear your glasses during the experience. Please don’t hesitate to ask our team for assistance in adjusting your headset.

Is there a place to store my belongings?

Please store your belongings in the cloakroom before checking in for the experience, there is nowhere to leave bags and coats once you have entered.

I’m hard of hearing or partially sighted, should I take part?

There is a small amount of voiceover used within the experience, which explains some key points relating to the correct functioning of your equipment. Subtitles can be provided. Please indicate on your booking that you would like to make use of this function and remind our team on arrival. A large print version of these instructions will also be available. Will it be dark/scary?

The virtual reality environment is designed to be a relaxing experience, . Before you put on your headset, you will pass through a dark space intended to begin your immersion in the experience. Once in virtual reality, you may experience some darker environments along the way, but these will give way to lighter ones.

Motion Sickness, can I take part?

If you suffer motion sickness, we do not recommend you take part. However, you can abort your experience at any point, on arrival please discuss any requirements with the team.

Is strobe lighting, smoke or haze used as part of the experience?

No strobes, smoke or haze used within the experience, however you may encounter some flashing images as part of the visual content in headset.

Can I upgrade my group size once I've purchased my ticket

This is subject to availability, however we recommend you always purchase the maximum number of tickets you will require at a time. If you can see availability for the number of people you require on another date or time, please get in touch.

Are there flashing images in the content?

It is possible your experience may include flashing images, please contact us prior to purchasing tickets if you have any questions.
